How Is Vivace Different From Standard Microneedling?
Microneedling has been a popular treatment for two decades. It has been an effective way to trigger the body’s healing mechanisms on the surface skin to reduce the signs of acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, areas of loose skin, large pores, stretch marks, and pigmentation problems.
Over the past decade or so, radiofrequency energy has been delivered through various handpieces to also encourage collagen production through a variety of stand-alone treatments. The problem has always been that the RF energy has to first penetrate the epidermis. Because of this, the energy needs to be delivered at a lower level, as it could burn the outer skin. Once the RF energy does penetrate the epidermis, it converts to heat in the dermis, the skin’s second layer. When the body senses heat in the dermis layer, it assumes there has been a wound. It triggers a wound response, where existing collagen near the “wounds” is instantly remodeled and new collagen and elastin production is initiated. This improves the skin immediately and for weeks afterward.

Would I Be A Good Candidate For Vivace RF Microneedling?

After cleansing the skin to remove makeup and debris, a numbing cream is offered to prep treatment areas for the Vivace RF therapy. After the skin is ready, the patient reclines while we use a small handheld device to gently deliver the potent combination of needle stimulation and radiofrequency energy to the skin. The Vivace device can be adjusted so its tiny needles lightly prick the skin or penetrate deeper, allowing for the procedure to be customized to the needs of the patient as well as their personal tolerance for the minimal discomfort associated with the treatment.
We perform each Vivace procedure in much the same way she would a custom facial treatment, providing the therapy in a gentle, soothing manner for maximum comfort and relaxation. After each treatment, she gently applies a chilled cooling mask to calm the skin, followed by an application of a broad-spectrum moisturizing sunscreen. The entire session takes about an hour.
